Technical Lead (Ruby on Rails, AI-Native)
Jobgether
Job description
About the role
A partner company is looking for an experienced, hands-on Technical Lead to shape engineering culture, set technical standards and guide a distributed development team in an AI-native environment. The role is part-time (about 50% time, 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday) and fully remote, focused on team coherence, code quality, technical excellence and developer mentorship rather than coding volume. It suits someone who wants to influence the technical direction of a growing travel technology business.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a strong engineering culture and set technical standards for code quality, maintainability, reliability and consistency.
- Champion AI-native development practices, helping developers use tools such as Cursor and Claude Code effectively and responsibly.
- Mentor a team of four developers and guide architectural and technical decisions.
- Review AI-assisted development workflows and outputs for code quality, testing, security and production readiness.
- Define development processes, coding conventions, review practices and collaboration standards for a distributed team.
- Support knowledge sharing across developers in different countries and time zones, and work with company leadership on engineering culture.
Required profile
- At least 8 years of experience building, maintaining and delivering production software systems.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a small engineering team.
- Experience in remote-first, geographically distributed teams and strong communication and mentoring skills.
- Legal authorization to work in your country of residence; UK working hours are not required.
Required skills
- Ruby on Rails, with at least 6 years of production-level experience.
- Daily hands-on use of AI-native tools, especially Cursor and Claude Code, including plan mode.
- Ability to define technical standards and work independently in a part-time arrangement.
What we offer
- Part-time compensation: UK candidates £42,500-£57,500 per year, Poland candidates €52,000-€71,000 per year, LATAM candidates $43,000-$57,000 USD per year; others open to discussion.
- Fully remote, flexible schedule of 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
- Opportunity to shape engineering culture and mentor developers within an established, profitable travel technology business.
