Senior Medical Strategy Lead, Clinical Development - Rheumatology

About the role

The Senior Medical Strategy Lead provides strategic medical and scientific expertise to IQVIA in rheumatology, drawing on first-hand knowledge gained through training and experience. The role is independent of the therapeutic area head and involves early engagement with potential customers, proposal development for RFPs, bid defence meetings, and acting as a consultant throughout the research and development lifecycle and clinical trials, or as an independent customer solution. Thought leadership activities are strongly encouraged.

Key responsibilities

• Work independently of the therapeutic area head and show independence in strategic proposal development with the proposal team.
• Lead client proposal bid defence meetings as a medical director and subject matter expert.
• Act as consultant throughout the R&D life cycle and clinical trials, or as a standalone customer solution.
• Formulate clinical development plans and lead the strategic direction of the Center of Excellence.

Required profile

• Typically a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
• At least 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry or a CRO setting; CRO candidates should hold a senior strategic role with strong leadership and significant rheumatology expertise.
• Terminal degree (MD) and training in rheumatology, board certified in rheumatology.
• Ability to travel nationally or internationally at least 20% of the time.

• Practical knowledge of leading and managing processes, projects and tactics in the R&D therapeutic area.
