Staff Engineer, Growth & Verifications

About the role

As a Staff Engineer on the Pro Verifications team, you will define the technical direction for verification services that power Kraken’s professional customers. You will own architecture, drive reliability, and ensure compliance while working across the full stack.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the verification architecture, patterns, and vendor abstractions to keep the system fast, safe, and defensible.
• Design fail‑closed behavior, audit trails, and service contracts that satisfy regulators.
• Write and champion architecture decision records (ADRs) and enforce security/compliance at design time.
• Mentor senior engineers through design reviews, code feedback, and technical guidance.

Required profile

• ~8 years of experience building and operating production systems with end‑to‑end ownership.
• Deep, fluent expertise in Rust and ability to work with TypeScript/React where verification meets the customer.
• Proven track record of defining architecture that eliminates recurring failure classes.
• Experience in high‑stakes domains such as compliance, payments, or security where mistakes have real consequences.
