Technical Lead

About the role

Better is building an open‑data medical platform that supports over 30 million patient records worldwide. As a Technical Lead you will drive the technical delivery of Better Platform implementations across multiple customer programmes, combining deep platform expertise with hands‑on team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical authority for assigned programmes, making implementation, configuration and integration decisions and escalating complex issues.
• Lead, mentor and develop engineers, integration specialists and technical analysts, providing reviews, guidance and performance feedback.
• Manage the technical workstream across concurrent programmes, ensuring milestones, configuration deliverables and quality gates are met.
• Define and enforce platform and documentation standards, including configuration management and change‑control processes.
• Design new integrations, configurations and platform extensions, producing clear architecture and specification documents.
• Lead customer‑facing workshops, architecture reviews and integration sessions, building trusted technical relationships.
• Support pre‑sales activities with feasibility assessments, effort estimates and tender content.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams in a delivery context.
• Strong background with XML, SQL/database technologies, ETL tooling and API‑based system integrations.
• Ability to read, produce and review technical solution designs, integration specifications and data‑mapping artefacts.
• Confidence engaging with senior technical customers through workshops and presentations.
• Deep knowledge of interoperability standards such as openEHR, HL7 FHIR and IHE adapter patterns.
• Hands‑on expertise with the Better Platform backend (CDR, ODR, openEHR storage, FHIR APIs, ETL pipelines, API connectors, IHE adapters).
