Senior Product Design Engineer

About the role

As a senior member of DuckDuckGo’s Design Functional Team, you will use your product design expertise and craft obsession to maintain and raise quality across a range of privacy‑focused products, including native apps, search, and AI‑driven features. The role is design‑first, requiring fluency in code to prototype, specify precisely, and partner directly with engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑impact product design projects from ideation through execution, ensuring design quality across DuckDuckGo’s suite of products.
• Partner closely with engineering peers, writing production‑grade code prototypes, reviewing pull requests, and maintaining design‑to‑code parity.
• Shape and evolve the design system, including token layering, naming conventions, and component implementation.

Required profile

• 7+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years at a senior level for global consumer brands.
• Proven ability to communicate visual and interaction decisions through high‑quality mockups, prototypes, and motion specifications.
• Strong research mindset, using both qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions.

Required skills

• Semantic markup and accessibility best practices.
• Code prototyping to production standards (HTML/CSS/JS).
• Design‑system token layering and naming conventions.
• AI‑assisted design tools.
