Robotics Application Engineer

About the role

Sunrise Robotics builds automation that runs in real factories. As a Robotics Application Engineer you will turn platform capabilities—perception, motion planning, manipulation—into production‑ready applications for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Build end‑to‑end robotic manipulation applications, integrating perception, reasoning and motion planning to meet customer requirements.
• Define and execute test plans, identify edge cases and ensure performance against KPIs before deployment.
• Deploy applications to real and simulated robotic systems, managing the full delivery lifecycle.
• Perform A/B testing on production cells, monitor performance and roll out improvements confidently.
• Set up logging, observability and alerting to track application health in the field.
• Maintain software for robot manipulators and grippers and support the Forward Deploy Engineering team.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience implementing robotic manipulation systems in ROS2 across perception, reasoning and motion planning.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python and solid knowledge of Docker for building and deploying robotics software.
• Experience deploying complex software systems to production and supporting them in the field.
• Experience with behaviour trees, state machines or similar orchestration components.
• Ability to design test plans, define edge cases and verify system performance across multiple KPIs.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across software and hardware.
• Clear written and verbal communication for cross‑functional teams.
