Software Engineer (Hybrid, Ljubljana)

About the role

PDQ, a Salt Lake City-founded company making device management software, is hiring a Software Engineer for a hybrid position based in Ljubljana, open to candidates living in Slovenia and within commuting distance of the office. You will contribute to PDQ's cloud-hosted endpoint management solution, owning parts of the product end-to-end, from design and development through testing and delivery, working independently on moderately complex problems and collaborating with peers, product managers and cross-functional partners. Depending on your background, you may also join the team building the remote desktop clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deliver software that meets functional, performance and security requirements.
• Work independently on moderately complex tasks and projects, writing clean, testable and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with peers, product managers and other teams to turn requirements into technical solutions.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the full software stack, finding root causes and applying durable fixes.
• Work with QA and DevOps teams on testing, deployment and monitoring of features.
• Document designs, implementation details and system dependencies.
• Take ownership of deliverables, communicate progress and blockers, and propose improvements to systems and processes.
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, feedback and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to write clean, testable, maintainable production code and a solid understanding of software design principles, data structures and algorithms.
• Experience in cross-functional agile teams; willingness to learn the team's stack on the job.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. C#, Go, Python, TypeScript).
• Nice to have: Elixir, Rust, C++, Java or Objective-C; CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices; AWS, Azure or GCP; systems or infrastructure programming; IT, endpoint management or enterprise software background.
