Software Engineer - Customer Experience (React, TypeScript)

About the role

Planet designs, builds and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and delivers satellite data through a cloud-based platform to customers in commercial, environmental and humanitarian sectors. It is looking for a Software Engineer focused on building clear, customer-facing account experiences. The team is small and distributed across eastern North America and Europe, and the role is full-time and hybrid, with three days per week in the Berlin or Ljubljana office.

Key responsibilities

• Iterate on a newly built ecosystem of apps addressing customer needs
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Conduct design and code reviews
• Build new features based on team feedback and improve existing systems
• Develop tools and libraries and write technical documentation so other engineering teams can integrate with customer telemetry
• Ensure code accuracy and reliability through automated testing

Required profile

• 4+ years of software development experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
• Professional working proficiency in English
• Experience in cross-functional teams focused on customer requirements
• Adaptable and open to mentorship

Required skills

• React and TypeScript, with experience steering the architecture of React apps
• CI/CD and source control (GitHub, GitLab)
• Nice to have: Redux Thunk, Emotion CSS, OpenAPI and REST code generation, agile development, spatial data and web mapping
