Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our NOC L2 team at Plume. The role combines people leadership, operational ownership, and technical depth, overseeing incident triage, resolution, and process improvement for our large‑scale smart‑home platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of NOC L2 engineers responsible for escalated incident triage and resolution.
• Own on‑call rotation structure, escalation policies, and incident response processes for the L2 team.
• Drive root‑cause analysis, post‑incident reviews and translate learnings into concrete improvements.
• Partner with Engineering, Infrastructure, and Product teams to reduce recurring incident classes and improve platform reliability.
• Establish and refine runbooks, playbooks, and operational documentation.
• Monitor and report on key operational metrics (MTTD, MTTR, incident volume, escalation rates) to leadership.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in network operations, infrastructure, or site reliability roles.
• At least 2 years of people management or team lead experience.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in a 24/7 environment.

Required skills

• Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, PagerDuty, Splunk.
• Incident response process ownership, on‑call rotation design, escalation management.
• Automation/scripting (Python, Bash) – nice‑to‑have.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) – nice‑to‑have.
