Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Plume, a SaaS platform for smart homes, small businesses and enterprises that serves over 60 million locations and manages over 3 billion devices, is looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer. You will develop and implement tools, processes and automations that help product engineers do their work while keeping systems stable and reliable. The role combines software engineering and cloud-native infrastructure skills.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, manage and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
• Develop and implement observability solutions so engineers can ensure high availability and performance.
• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment.
• Work with development teams so services are designed with operability and reliability in mind.
• Take part in a global on-call rotation supporting critical production systems.
• Reduce operational toil through automation and process improvements.
• Manage and optimise cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Excellent technical communication skills and a collaborative spirit.

Required skills

• Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Go).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP).
• Configuration management and IaC tools (e.g. Terraform, Salt).
• Kubernetes-based environments.
• Monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch).
• Preferred: large-scale distributed systems, networking and security best practices, SQL and NoSQL databases.
