Senior Scientist Analytics (Physico-Chemical Analysis)

About the role

The R&D unit in Menges, Slovenia, is looking for a Senior Scientist in physico-chemical analytics (PCA) to help develop a diverse portfolio of biotherapeutics. The role covers evaluating the developability of biologics modalities, from traditional antibodies to advanced formats and mixed modalities, and supports cell line development, upstream and downstream processing and formulation studies. It is a temporary position of 1 year, based in Menges, and no relocation support is offered.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and characterize biological candidates by spectroscopy (UV/turbidity), capillary electrophoresis (CZE/CE-SDS), calorimetry (DSC/nanoDSF), light scattering (DLS), mass spectrometry and viscometry, including sample preparation, analysis, evaluation, interpretation and reporting.
• Prepare and communicate analytical results at internal and external meetings.
• Set up and run preformulation assessments, including forced degradation and early stability studies.
• Write lab procedures and technology evaluations.
• Process samples accurately and on time, interpret results, prepare summary presentations and record data in electronic lab journals and databases.
• Take on organizational tasks in the lab, such as maintaining equipment and implementing new equipment.

Required profile

• MSc in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience, or BSc with at least 6 years.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
• High learning ability, quality- and result-oriented, reliable and flexible team player.
• Experience in prioritizing work and keeping timelines.

Required skills

• Expertise in physical-chemical analysis or other biophysical methods such as spectroscopy, calorimetry, viscometry and light scattering.
• Hands-on experience setting up preformulation assessments is a plus.
• Experience with mass spectrometry is a plus.

• Expected annual base salary of 27,160 to 50,440 EUR.
