Senior Data Analyst
United.Cloud · Ljubljana
Job description
About the role
A Senior Data Analyst acts as the link between the data team and the people who use its data: product managers, telco operators, media clients and management. Requests often start as vague questions; the analyst clarifies what people need to know, turns it into clear requirements for data engineers and delivers dashboards and analyses. The data comes from close to 5 million devices, so it is big data, and the analyst also helps Product Managers define how new features will be measured.
Key responsibilities
- Run discovery with stakeholders (product, telco operators, media clients, management) to understand the business problem behind each request.
- Define requirements for new data products: analytical questions, metric and KPI definitions and acceptance criteria, written as specs or user stories for data engineers.
- Work with Product Managers to build data awareness, promote product performance analytics and help define product usage metrics.
- Review telemetry and event specs for new features so the needed data is captured from the start.
- Build and maintain dashboards in Metabase for internal and external users.
- Validate data quality by checking new products against source systems and investigating anomalies.
- Handle ad-hoc analysis requests and present findings clearly to non-technical people in English.
- Work alongside data engineers during builds, answering business-logic questions and testing intermediate results.
- Help advanced users build their own queries and dashboards.
- Add and maintain descriptions in the data catalogue (OpenMetadata) and adjust data models that support dashboards.
Required profile
- 4+ years of experience in data analysis.
- Strong stakeholder communication and ability to turn requests into clear requirements, metric definitions and acceptance criteria.
- Comfortable with technical work, troubleshooting, optimising queries and improving processes.
- Willingness to give opinions and question how things are done.
Required skills
- Excellent SQL and a solid understanding of data modelling.
- Nice to have: product usage or TV viewership analytics, large-scale data modelling, Metabase, Snowflake, ClickHouse, OpenMetadata, dbt, Airflow, Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes.
What we offer
- Flexible working environment with offices in Ljubljana and Belgrade.
- Performance bonus and gifts for special occasions.
- "Healthy" Friday and 25 vacation days.
- In-house products used by millions of users, with direct input from employees.
- Internal learning sessions, innovation challenges and hackathons.
- Feedback culture, development plans and community meetups and workshops.
