SAP MDG Technical Architect – Material Master Data

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SAP MDG Technical Architect / SME to design and deliver a robust Material Master Data solution. You will translate functional requirements into scalable technical designs, ensuring high‑quality governance, workflow, and data‑quality mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end technical delivery of the SAP MDG solution for Material Master Data.
• Convert functional specifications into MDG technical designs, system configuration, and Change Request (DCR) processes.
• Design and implement workflows and BRF+ rules to enforce governance and approval processes.
• Extend MDG data models and develop custom enhancements with a clean‑core approach.
• Architect integrations with SAP S/4HANA and non‑SAP systems using APIs, IDocs, and web services.
• Assess technical feasibility, propose alternatives, and communicate trade‑offs to stakeholders.
• Set and enforce technical quality standards for stability, scalability, and performance.
• Implement data‑quality rules, monitor accuracy, and provide analytics‑driven validation.
• Support testing cycles, diagnose gaps, and resolve defects.
• Create training materials and enable users and technical teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with SAP MDG/MDM for Material Master data.
• Strong background in data governance, data modeling, and data‑quality management.
• Proven ability to work with functional SMEs and advise on feasibility and trade‑offs.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1 level) and solid documentation skills.

Required skills

• SAP MDG configuration, including Change Request (DCR) processes.
• Workflow design and BRF+ rule development.
• Data model extension and ABAP development for clean‑core enhancements.
• Integration expertise with SAP S/4HANA, APIs, IDocs, and web services.
• Security and compliance knowledge for master data in cloud or hybrid landscapes.
• Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI (nice to have).
• Data migration, harmonization, and AI‑driven data‑quality tooling (nice to have).
