Head of Engineering and Development Technology

About the role

The Head of Engineering and Development Technology will join the senior management team of a renowned Slovenian glass manufacturer. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role combines technical leadership, process development and people management to drive the company’s future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering, development and technology activities across the plant.
• Drive technological development and contribute to the long‑term strategy.
• Understand and improve the full glass production chain, from raw materials to packaging.
• Support development and modification of glass compositions and evaluate their impact on furnace operation and product quality.
• Lead complex development, technology and investment projects.
• Support projects related to furnaces, production equipment, automation, robotisation and digitalisation.
• Analyse technical challenges and implement sustainable process improvements.
• Co‑operate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Laboratory, Purchasing and external technology partners.
• Develop employees, transfer knowledge and connect expertise across departments.

Required profile

• University degree in chemical technology, chemical engineering, process technology or a related field.
• Experience developing, optimising or managing complex industrial production processes.
• Strong knowledge of chemical and process principles in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience leading technical, development or investment projects.
• Analytical, leadership and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proactive, structured and hands‑on approach.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with operational teams and senior management.
• Fluency in Slovenian and English.
• Experience in glass, chemical, metallurgical or other complex manufacturing sectors is a plus; prior glass‑industry experience is not mandatory.
