About the role
The Field Excellence Manager drives operational excellence and performance across all therapeutic areas. The role provides a unified, data‑driven framework for evaluating field performance, managing territories, and monitoring key performance indicators. It ensures that field activities are aligned with business priorities and international guidelines, acting as the primary liaison for therapeutic area heads and the Value & Access leader.
Key responsibilities
- Implement standardized frameworks for field KPIs, reporting, analysis and dashboards in partnership with therapeutic area heads and the Value & Access function.
- Guide field effectiveness by delivering performance insights, regular monitoring, joint customer visits and coaching, without direct line‑management responsibility.
- Collaborate with competency‑building and execution‑excellence teams to address development needs and promote targeted development activities.
- Conduct performance and efficiency analyses, prepare insight packages and translate findings into actionable recommendations for business decisions and planning cycles.
- Support new‑medicine launches and portfolio changes by designing scenarios for field‑team structure, size and distribution, based on target‑group synergies and launch priorities.
- Apply international visit‑planning guidelines, review plans before cyclical meetings using Novartis data and platforms.
- Lead local implementation of global and regional procedures for setting field‑team targets, performance assessment, reward‑system management and documentation archiving.
- Coordinate territory design with promotional teams, including maps, representative distribution analyses, visit plans and segmentation inputs.
- Work with field‑system owners to implement territory changes and ensure reliable reporting and analysis.
Required profile
- Proven experience in managing field performance or territory excellence within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business recommendations.
- Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills, acting as a bridge between therapeutic area leaders, value‑access functions and field teams.
- Ability to coach and support field staff through insights, monitoring and joint customer engagements.
- Familiarity with international guidelines for field planning and execution.
