Chief Housekeeper – Cruise Ship

About the role

The Chief Housekeeper leads the entire housekeeping operation aboard a cruise vessel, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, personalized butler and cleaning services to guests and crew. This senior position is responsible for maintaining impeccable standards across guest suites, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces while upholding public health regulations and driving total guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of housekeeping, providing premium butler and cleaning services throughout the ship.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of all areas to verify smooth operation and promptly address any issues.
• Engage proactively with guests to identify and fulfill their expectations, handling requests, enquiries, and complaints immediately.
• Monitor guest satisfaction through comment cards and rating scores, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Supervise VIP and suite preparations at embarkation, performing random checks on all accommodations.
• Maintain and display an equitable in‑port manning schedule for the housekeeping team.
• Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and keep accurate employee records.
• Induct, train, coach, and lead crew to consistently achieve superior performance.
• Prepare cruise reports, manage complaint logs, and monitor operational costs.
• Adhere to public health requirements, maintain logs, and enforce company service standards.
• Collaborate with HR on personnel issues, staffing plans, and training needs.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in hospitality or cruise ship housekeeping.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a sincere, guest‑focused attitude.
• Excellent people‑management abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively with all ship departments.
• High level of organization, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Experience reviewing guest feedback and implementing service improvements.
