Senior Software Engineer - IAM Platform

About the role

Planet, a space and data company behind a constellation of imaging satellites, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for its Identity and Access Management (IAM) team on the Planet Insights Platform. The team continuously evolves IAM services so they become the secure, reliable foundation for new Earth observation solutions, with a focus on M2M communication between services and secure, controlled data access. The role is full-time and hybrid, with three days per week in the Ljubljana office.

Key responsibilities

• Evolving existing IAM services and developing new features
• Designing future IAM services with multiple teams and cross-organizational stakeholders
• Championing platform adoption by building tools and libraries and writing technical documentation for engineers
• Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving IAM-related technical issues
• Mentoring junior colleagues and conducting design and code reviews

Required profile

• 6+ years of software development experience
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to lead domain-driven and technical discussions with stakeholders and to lead a team of developers
• Professional English proficiency

Required skills

• Java or another similar object-oriented language; Java 21+ preferred
• REST APIs and HTTP(S)
• Relational databases
• Preferred: Python, OAuth and IAM, GCP or AWS, Grafana ecosystem, JAX-RS, CDI, Jackson
