Medical Lead R&I Balkans

About the role

AstraZeneca is looking for a Medical Lead for Respiratory & Immunology in the Balkans region. The role leads the medical and scientific strategy for the specialty area, including disease and brand objectives, education initiatives, evidence generation and treatment and healthcare system pathway redesign, aligned with therapy area objectives such as pre-launch and peri-launch. It also provides functional line management of field medical teams (MSL team and/or Medical Educator Team) and delivers KPIs, acting as backup to the Nominated Signatory.

Key responsibilities

• Define, lead and implement the Medical Plan for the cluster portfolio, deliver Evidence Plans and contribute to the Value Story
• Contribute to the Business Plan and develop an External Engagement plan with experts, scientific societies and health decision-makers
• Build relationships with key physicians, set up medical communication and publications, and lead Clinical Advisory Boards
• Support early access programs and turn customer insight into key activities
• Lead and coach MSLs, Medical Advisors and Medical Managers, recruit and develop a high-performing medical team
• Provide expert medical input on adverse event reviews, Patient Risk Mitigation Plans, regulatory submissions and promotional materials, and ensure GCP and QMS compliance
• Ensure compliance with AstraZeneca's code of ethics, corporate governance and audit requirements, and maintain confidentiality

Required profile

• Graduate of Medicine, Pharmacy or Biomedicine equivalent
• At least three to five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including Medical Affairs
• Understanding of the product lifecycle and high-level scientific knowledge
• Extensive patient and customer insight, and proven cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Market Access and Patient Advocacy
• Proficiency in English; driver's license required
• Desirable: knowledge of or experience in Respiratory and Immunology, a track record in clinical research, and experience leading and developing people
