Software Engineer – Data Acquisition

About the role

Soniox is building the next generation of speech and language models and needs a seasoned software engineer to lead data acquisition infrastructure. You will create and scale systems that collect, index, and store massive, diverse datasets that power AI research and production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale web‑crawling pipelines and large‑scale data ingestion workflows.
• Develop content‑indexing and search solutions for multi‑petabyte datasets.
• Collaborate with data‑processing and model‑training teams to ensure seamless data pipelines.
• Own backend infrastructure for storage, indexing, and retrieval.
• Architect robust, high‑performance distributed systems for research and production workloads.
• Deploy and operate services in a Kubernetes environment using Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
• Instrument and experiment to analyze system performance and data coverage.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience building large‑scale software systems.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, web crawling, and backend engineering.
• Comfort with key‑value stores, data synchronization, and scalable storage solutions.
• Pragmatic, curious, and willing to explore new tools and rethink assumptions.
• Clear, proactive communication across cross‑functional teams.
• Passion for building infrastructure that directly powers real‑world AI systems.
