Senior Data Scientist

About the role

Zurich is looking for a motivated Senior Data Scientist to shape advanced analytics, machine‑learning and AI solutions for one of the world’s largest insurers. Based in Ljubljana with a hybrid working model, you will turn complex customer, operational and financial data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and monitor statistical, machine‑learning and AI models that support business objectives.
• Design and maintain forecasting solutions for key KPIs using time‑series and predictive‑modelling techniques.
• Build customer‑intelligence solutions such as segmentation, lifetime‑value estimation, retention and churn prediction.
• Apply machine‑learning methods to fraud detection, claims analytics, risk assessment and related use cases.
• Explore large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, risks and opportunities.
• Design and run experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to measure the impact of data‑driven initiatives.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define use cases and communicate findings clearly.
• Work with data‑engineering teams to ensure high‑quality analytical datasets are available.
• Create visualisations and dashboards that support decision‑making and storytelling.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics or machine learning.
• University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related quantitative discipline (equivalent experience acceptable).
• Strong foundation in statistical modelling, predictive analytics and machine‑learning techniques.
• Practical experience with forecasting methods, particularly time‑series analysis.
