Child Protection Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a dedicated Child Protection Officer to lead Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS) activities and raise awareness on child protection within targeted communities. Reporting to the Senior PICB Specialist and supported by a Child Protection Specialist, you will ensure safe, inclusive participation and high‑quality case management for children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of SHLS and child‑protection information‑dissemination activities aligned with project objectives.
• Develop and execute monthly and quarterly work plans for child‑protection interventions.
• Assist the Senior PICB Specialist in integrating work plans across sectors and coordinating with partners.
• Mentor and coach partners on child‑protection technical competencies, emergency assistance, and case management standards.
• Maintain accurate beneficiary data, attendance records, and monitoring information per MEAL guidelines.
• Participate in regular team, coordination, and monitoring meetings.
• Assess SHLS facilitators’ capacities using the competency framework and identify development needs.
• Deliver community awareness‑raising sessions on child protection and safeguarding.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to safeguarding principles, confidentiality, and the organization’s Code of Conduct.
• Experience in child‑protection case management and community‑based protection activities.
• Ability to assess staff capacity, promote well‑being, and ensure team safety in field settings.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
