Research Scientist I - Formulation

About the role

Novartis is seeking a motivated Research Scientist I to join its R&D unit in Mengeš, Slovenia. The role focuses on formulation development for a broad portfolio of biotherapeutic modalities, ranging from traditional antibodies to advanced multi‑specific formats.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑formulation assessments for monoclonal and multispecific antibodies and other therapeutic proteins, including solubility and formulation screening studies.
• Execute biophysical characterization using DSC/DSF, dynamic light scattering (DLS), UV‑Vis, turbidity, sub‑visible particle analysis, viscosity, and LC‑based methods such as SEC and HIC.
• Utilize automated liquid handling systems to compound formulations and conduct stability studies on large biotherapeutics.
• Apply physicochemical analytics throughout screening, formulation, and lead‑optimization stages.
• Operate and maintain relevant instrumentation and support data analysis.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of pre‑formulation, formulation, and characterization of biologics.
• Ability to evaluate developability and shape formulation strategies for early‑phase projects.
• Motivated, detail‑oriented scientist with a passion for biomedical research.
