R&D Engineer (f/m/d)

About the role

Filc, a brand of Freudenberg Performance Materials, produces needle punch nonwoven textiles and laminated materials for automotive, construction, filtration and special applications. It is looking for an R&D Engineer in Škofja Loka who enjoys exploring, testing and improving materials and bringing new solutions into production.

Key responsibilities

• Identify market and customer needs, including customer requirements, market trends and opportunities for new products
• Develop product solutions and design improvements to existing ones
• Collaborate closely with the R&D team and lead development projects, coordinating project teams and aligning activities across departments
• Plan, run and analyse laboratory, pilot-scale and production trials
• Work with team members, customers, production, quality, process engineering, procurement, sales and external partners
• Prepare technical documentation such as specifications, R&D documentation and preliminary cost calculations
• Transfer new products to production through sampling and ensure their successful implementation
• Support the resolution of technical issues and customer complaints, and monitor new materials and technologies for future projects

Required profile

• University degree (Level VII / Master's) in Textile Engineering, Textile Science or Chemistry; a PhD in Textile Science (Level VIII/2) preferred
• At least 3-5 years of experience in product development, including project management, ideally in an industrial or commercial setting
• Fluent English and Slovene
• Strong analytical and logical thinking, creativity, accuracy and reliability, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility

• Ability to work effectively in a digital environment
