Lead Auditor – Food Safety Schemes (IFS/FSSC 22000/BRC) – Slovenia

About the role

Bureau Veritas is looking for an experienced Lead Auditor to conduct food safety audits across production, processing and distribution facilities in Slovenia. This freelance, call‑based position offers flexibility while supporting the company’s audit planning calendar.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive audits against IFS, FSSC 22000, BRC and other recognized food safety schemes.
• Lead audit teams through planning, execution and reporting phases.
• Assess compliance with HACCP principles, regulatory requirements and food safety management systems.
• Evaluate traceability, allergen management, hygiene practices and overall food safety controls.
• Document findings in detailed audit reports, including non‑conformities and corrective‑action recommendations.
• Communicate results clearly to facility management, quality teams and client stakeholders.
• Maintain audit documentation and ensure traceability of all audit activities.
• Provide technical guidance on best practices and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current IFS, FSSC 22000 or BRC Lead Auditor certification (any one is mandatory).
• Proven experience auditing food manufacturing, processing plants, cold‑chain operations or food‑service supply chains.

Required skills

• IFS Lead Auditor Certification (or equivalent FSSC 22000/BRC certification).
• Knowledge of ISO 22000 food safety management systems.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Understanding of EU food safety regulations (EC 852/2004, EC 853/2004) and Slovenian food law.
