Head of HR – Slovenia

About the role

For an established company operating in a complex production environment, we are looking for an experienced Head of HR in Slovenia to lead the local HR function during an important phase of organisational growth and development. The role blends hands‑on operational HR leadership with strategic responsibility, working closely with site management, employees and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day HR operations and support managers and employees.
• Manage workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and training.
• Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Lead and develop the local HR team.
• Manage employee relations and cooperate with employee representatives, unions and works councils.
• Ensure compliance with Slovenian and EU labour law and internal policies.
• Oversee payroll, compensation and benefits, HR reporting and budgeting.
• Support organisational development, change initiatives and employee engagement.
• Improve HR processes and drive HR digitalisation.
• Act as a trusted HR partner to site management and relevant Group functions.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of HR experience, including several years in a leadership role.
• HR experience in a larger production or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of Slovenian labour law.
• Experience in workforce planning, recruitment and employee relations.
• Experience working with employee representative bodies, unions and/or works councils.
• Hands‑on operational approach combined with strategic thinking.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluency in Slovenian and English, with good knowledge of German.
• Experience with ramp‑up, restructuring or significant organisational change is an advantage.
