Director of Major Giving – Eastern US

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a senior fundraising leader to head its Major Giving program for donors located east of the Mississippi River. Reporting within the USA Philanthropy unit, the Director will manage a portfolio of high‑net‑worth supporters and a team of fundraisers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of donors, prospects and suspects with capacity ranging from $500K to $2.5M, driving six‑ and seven‑figure gifts.
• Lead, mentor and guide a team of approximately eight fundraisers and support staff.
• Design and execute fundraising strategies that align with bold revenue targets.
• Promote donor‑centric relationship management throughout the donor life‑cycle, leveraging IRC leaders for qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
• Collaborate across External Relations functions (private fundraising, communications, advocacy) to maximize donor engagement.

Required profile

• Solutions‑driven, passionate change‑maker with a track record in high‑net‑worth fundraising.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to develop creative fundraising solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal colleagues and external donors.
• Leadership experience managing a team of fundraisers.
