Deputy Director, Child Protection Alliance

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a part‑time Deputy Director to co‑lead the Child Protection Alliance, a global network of over 370 organisations protecting children in humanitarian settings. Reporting to the Alliance Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑driven outcomes for vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Support development, implementation and periodic review of the Alliance strategy and work plans.
• Lead designated Alliance workstreams and ensure alignment with IRC’s child protection objectives.
• Strengthen governance processes, including preparation and follow‑up of Executive and Steering Committee decisions.
• Coordinate Working Groups, Task Forces and Initiatives to ensure coherence, progress tracking and learning.
• Facilitate information flow and collaboration across Alliance members and technical groups.
• Plan and deliver the Annual Meeting for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in child protection or related humanitarian fields.
• Strong understanding of multi‑sectoral collaboration and partnership management.
• Experience with strategic planning, governance and results‑oriented work plans.
• Excellent communication and convening skills for diverse international stakeholders.
• Ability to work remotely across UK or Kenya and adapt to evolving funding timelines.
